Ocean Forest
In 2013 Lerøy and The Bellona Foundation (an international environmental oranization based in Oslo, Norway) joined forces, creating the company Ocean Forest AS with the aim to achieve more efficient recycling of the unexploited resources in the environments surrounding fish farms. Excess nutrients in the sea generated by the production of fish are a resource that can be utilized for production of species lower down in the food chain like seaweed, mussels and polychaetas.
